Design Dictionary: Duvet

What's the difference between a duvet and a comforter?
A duvet is a fancy name for a comforter but there are differences between the two. A duvet is usually the exact same size of the bed you are looking to cover, while a comfortor has more length and width to drop over the sides.

Duvets also have covers that go with them. Instead of changing the comforter you would change the duvet slip and leave the insert the same. Duvets come in a variety of weights and fillings. Heavier ones with feathers are more suited for the fall and winter while lighter downs keep you comfy in the spring and summer.

All duvets and comforters are not equal so make sure you measure before you buy. You don't want to spend so much time looking for the right cover and feel and wind up disappointed when your prefered cover comes up short!
